In November of 2017, the World Health Organization released a report on CBD. This was the first time CBD (cannabidiol) had been considered to be “critically reviewed”. A bit of background, the WHO was created in 1946, just after the creation of the United Nations, to be a responsible party for addressing world health issues within the UN.

You can see the report herehttps://www.who.int/medicines/access/controlled-substances/5.2_CBD.pdf It’s an accessible read, and there is plenty to be learned from it.

What did they have to say? Scientifically based reporting showed that CBD is A-OK! Among the findings :

  • There are NO public health problems associated with CBD
  • CBD is not associated with abuse potential
  • CBD has a good safety profile
  • CBD does not show the same side effects associated with THC, such as psychomotor and cognitive performance impairment
  • Positive Therapeutic Applications noted for
    • drug addiction
    • epilepsy
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • Parkinson’s disease
    • multiple sclorosis
    • anxiety
    • depression
    • cancer
    • irritable bowl syndrome& Chrones disease
    • cardiovascular disease
    • diabetic complications and more!!

These findings, coupled with the fact that hemp derived CBD is not now, or never has been on the List of Controlled Substances should help people feel safe about using CBD as an option with little to no side effects.

CBD and cannabis regulations are complicated, constantly evolving and very much set the stage for what is available to consumers. It’s an industry that requires a diligent eye and quick reflexes to keep track of. One thing’s for certain, cannabis isn’t only for the Teenage Wasteland, and if we keep on our regulating bodies to make a safe path for cannabis medicine, it’s possible we Won’t Get Fooled Again!
